Our bodies are amazing, dying and regenerating constantly. Estimates of cell turnover in the adult human body range from 50-70 billion per day, according to S. Carson, University of Colorado.
By this time tomorrow I’ll have some of my mass changed from living material to something inert, i e. a new hip joint, and that portion will simply degrade over time, not regenerating. Nevertheless, I shall be settled precisely where I am now (in bed) but in an altered state, slightly less organic.
I’m still thinking about that . . .
